Message From The Chief

The City of Black Hawk is nestled in the scenic Rocky Mountains located 18 miles west of Golden, Colorado.  This historical city was incorporated in 1864, grew from the "gold rush days," and prospered as a milling town.  In 1991 the city became one of Colorado's three destination locations where limited stakes gambling was legalized. in 2020, unlimited stakes gaming was legalized. The city is now the premier gambling venue in Colorado and home to 16 casinos hosting up to 20,000 visitors a day.  Black Hawk is known for its hospitality and is a "must-see" city for tourists visiting Colorado and the Rocky Mountains.

The Black Hawk Police Department is comprised of professional employees who are committed to providing great services to our citizens and guests.  We are proud of our city's heritage and the role we play to make Black Hawk an enjoyable place to live, work, and visit.  Community policing is ingrained in our culture and is practiced every day by our employees.  Our goal is to positively impact every citizen and visitor in our unique and colorful city.  The Black Hawk Police Department is dedicated to serving the community with exceptional police services and ethical conduct.
